The 5th KCIAPM interactive slide seminar – for the year 2019 was hosted by Dept. of Pathology, SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, A constituent of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, Dharwad on 24th August,2019 at Ishavaasyam Hall, Superspeciality building, SDMCMS&H.
A total of ten interesting cases from histopathology archival material of SDMCMS&H were retrieved. The slides were scanned and the digitized whole slide images were made available online – courtesy of Anand Diagnostic Laboratory. Hyperlink to access the digital slides were provided to all the colleges across the state and answers to the cases were sought prior to the seminar.
The event began with the lamp lighting following which ten post-graduate students from allotted medical colleges, presented the microscopic findings and diagnosis of each of these cases.
The event was was attended by around 80+ delegates and streamed live on the KCIAPM YouTube channel and had generated 2,239 views at the time of filing of the report. KCIAPM live stream video can still be viewed on the link provided below.

The cases were moderated by Pathologists of SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital under the able guidance of Dr RaviKala Rao, Col. Dr U. S. Dinesh, Dr Vidisha Athanikar and Dr Deepak Kanabur. Each presentation by the student was followed by a detailed discussion, approach to diagnosis and differential diagnosis by the moderators. The students were objectively assessed by our Judges, Dr M. H. Kulkarni and Dr Muralidhar Joshi, Senior Pathologists from Hubli and a prize and certificate were awarded to the best presenter at the end of the event.
The proud recipient of the best presentation was Dr. Priyadarshini Baragunam from KIMS, Hubballi.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Vidisha Athanikar followed by High Tea. A very positive feedback was received from both attending delegates and Online Audience.
