The XII State Level Annual KCIAPM Pathology UG Quiz 2019 was conducted on 09th of November 2019 by department of Pathology in MEU Hall, Kasturba Medical College, Light House Hill Road, Mangalore. Dr. Reba Phlipose, Professor of Pathology, AJ Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. Sumanth D., Assoc. Professor of Pathology, Fr. Muller Medical College, Mangalore were the quiz masters.
15 teams comprising of two students each from different Medical Colleges in Karnataka participated for the quiz. The preliminary round was 30 MCQ based questions and 6 top scoring teams qualified for the final quiz. The finalists were 1. Mr. Sathyanarayana and Mr. Saurav Gopal from Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical sciences, Belur 2. Mr. Poornachandra and Ms Tejaswini from KIMS, Bangalore 3. Ms. Gayathri Kini, and Mr. Sushruth Shetty from Fr. Muller Medical College, Mangalore 4. Mr. Kushagra and Mr. Husrav from KSHEMA, Mangalore 5. Ms. Manasi and Mr. Dhruv from KMC Mangalore 6. Mr. Adarsh and Ms. Yogitha from Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore.
A brief inaugural function was held at 10.30 a.m. in the presence of Dr. M. Venkatraya Prabhu, Dean, KMC, Mangalore, Dr. Alfred J. Augustine, Additional Dean, KMC, Mangalore, Dr. Nutan Kamath, Associate Dean, KMC, Mangalore and Dr. Jayaprakash Shetty, Vice Dean, KSHEMA, Mangalore. Lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and prayer was followed by welcome address by Dr. Sharada Rai, Professor and Head, Department of Pathology, KMC, Mangalore. Dean, Dr. M. Venkatraya Prabhu gave the inaugural address. Dr. Jyoti Kini, Associate Professor of Pathology delivered the vote of thanks.
The final quiz comprised of two rounds in General Pathology, two rounds in Systemic Pathology, Buzzer, Rapid fire and theme based rounds. The winners of the final quiz were:
First Prize : Ms. Gayathri Kini, and Mr. Sushruth Shetty from Fr. Muller Medical College, Mangalore
Second Prize : Mr. Kushagra and Mr. Husrav from KSHEMA, Mangalore
Third prize : Mr. Poornachandra and Ms Tejaswini from KIMS, Bangalore
The prizes comprising of certificate and books were distributed by Dr. M. Venkatraya Prabhu, Dean, KMC, Mangalore. Prize money of Rs. 3,000/- , Rs. 2,000/- and Rs. 1,000/- were given to the First, Second and Third prize winners respectively. The quiz masters Dr. Reba Philipose and Dr. Sumanth D., were felicitated by Dr. Sharada Rai and Dr. Jyoti Kini.
A light breakfast, tea and lunch was provided to all the participants.
