Pathlore

As the light fades

And darkness takes over

We go to war with time and power

Microscope comes to aid

All alone standing in chaos

We stay strong and try to mitigate the loss

We face spite

Not only by patients,

But also our colleagues to my delight

Let me tell you, how it goes

Our world is pink and blue

As we search for the clue

A routine check up, A CBC glows!

From infections to malignancies

It picks up all the tendencies

Another thing we do

Is differentiate benign and malignant

And isn’t it elegant?

We start our adventure

Fueled with coffee and tea

A microscopic picture is all we see

We count the cells, the story tells

Sometimes quiet and sometimes loud

We call for history when in doubt

Imaging and clinical presentation

Do play a role

To reach the final goal

Once we reach the diagnosis

You would think our job is done

Our story has just begun

Now comes the prognosis

Immunohistochemistry, genetics, molecular and flow

Paint a bigger picture as we go

While making the fine adjustments

Towards the end, I must say

Pathology is cool every step of the way

To my dear clinicans,

You need it to know the cause

And to overcome any pause

It knows no limits,

Changes every waking minute

Keeps us on our toes, But it’s the life I chose.
